Jim Slattery 0 Report post Posted August 30, 2005 Hi, For anyone that might be interested. There is a new "club" forming devoted to fishing and tying wet flies. The club was started about a month ago. The main thrust of the club is soft hackles and was inspired by "Pete" Hidy's original International Society of Flymph Fishers. Pete was the co author of the Classic American book "The Art of Tying the Wet Fly" along with Jim Leisenring. This was the first book written in the U.S. that systematically approached the subject of nymphs and emergers. It is a cornerstone book in American Angling Literature . We even have a web site IBF The site has just been up for a couple of weeks and still is in it's infancy. There will be many exciting additions in the future. If you are interested in joining just post here and we will put you on the Mailing list/ discussion forum. Check it out. Jim

Jim Slattery 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2005 Welcome aboard Fred! O.K. gang, I will announce the MAJOR COO now. Lance Hidy, V.S."Pete" Hidy's son, is going to share with us his father's collection. This is of great historical significance. V.S. Hidy was a well respected author and angler and had correspondence with many of the great anglers of the 20th century such as,G.E.M. Skues, Jim Leisenring, Art Cross,Harry Darbee just to name a few, perhaps we will get a glimpse of what these great angling minds had to say . Needless to say there is a wealth of information to be learned and digested. There is also talk of perhaps putting all of Pete's writings into one book. For sure the articles that Hidy wrote for the Creel will be put together. I hope you all are as excited about this MAJOR developement as I am. The fishing gods are looking down upon us with smiles upon their faces. Thank you Lance Hidy. Jim

Wesley 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 Gents, I have a card created by Pete Hidy that was given to my Aunt Kas and Uncle Art which has six soft brown hackles on it and is signed "Good luck - Pete Hidy." It is a card from the International Society of Flymph Fisherman. I hang it on the wall next to a picture of my Uncle fishing that was painted by Kas. These are two of my most prized fly fishing possesions. Wes Matthews Salt Lake City
