Too many vises

Recommended Posts

I've got way too many vises.  About ten, I believe, and they're all good vises.  It's a sickness.  I need to get rid of a couple of them,  set them up on The Classic Fly Rod forum, but no interest there in that rarified air.  I would put them in the Classifieds here, but there's zero posts there since 2022 or so.

Classified posts get deleted when an item sells or after a certain amount of time, so that last post isn't really accurate. Don't cost nothing to post.

Stripers Online has a pretty active classified section as well as fly tying community. Not sure if there's a minimum number of posts required.

I have a lot of vises too but I'm not sure I have too many. It's kind of like having too much fun. It's hard to quantify.

Post them up here. I'll look. I might need more.

Ditto Mark, I can't define "too many"!

Gene, Not a "sickness".  You're just a "collector" (like me).  Post em' in classifieds - folks will look . . .

Regards,

Gene I don't see 'em on the bamboo forum.

Yeah, they it went seven days and got deleted.  I may post them again.  I'd rather sell it here to people I know,

Oof, don't get me started.  I have too many also but the absolute coolest one I have is an original Thomas vise vise, aka the "Darbee" vise.  Simplicity and beauty personified in a metallic object.

Here is Harry and Elsie Darbee's fly tying desks set up side by side at the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum in Livingston Manner, New York.  This is what a production fly tying desk looked like back in the day.   When I was there a number of years ago I saw that vise and had to have one.  I found one on FleeBay for $20 bucks!
