SalarMan 0 Report post Posted September 11 As I've pointed out before, this is a favorite pattern of mine. There is more than one version and this is the Pryce-Tannatt pattern. I am fond of this simply because the only dyed materials in the fly are the black silk floss body segment and the black thread...everything else is all natural. A little rust shows on this one...it has been a while since my last effort over the vise. Hook: 2/0 Garren Wood Noble DS Tip/Tag: Fine oval silver tinsel and black floss Tail: Topping veiled with 2 Jungle Cock eyes back to back Butt: Black Ostrich herl Body: 3 segments - Flat silver tinsel; black floss, flat silver tinsel Rib: Medium silver oval tinsel Throat: Speckled Gallina Underwing: Golden Pheasant tippet Main Wing: White swan, bustard. florican, cinnamon turkey, mottled gray turkey Mottled brown turkey, Golden Pheasant tail, topping aver all Sides: Black & White batted Wood Duck Cheeks: Jungle Cock Horns: Blue & Gold Macaw

Thanks gadabout...but I feel the wing is too rigid, it could use a bit more curvature. The topping and tail aren't even close to matching in color. These are details I'm usually more aware of, but failed to notice here. That being said, I'm generally pleased with the tail, body and hackle work. Oh well...none of us tie perfect flies.
