Gene L 0 Report post Posted October 16, 2024 I ordered a Rhode Island Red half cape for the stems. I was a little apprehensive about the order, but it arrived quickly and the feathers are just what I needed for tying Red Quills.

JImmyR 0 Report post Posted January 17 I am new to fly tying and ordered a bunch of stuff from him. It has yet to arrive. It might, and it might be fine, but the customer service is the worst I’ve ever seen. I like to support small businesses but this is so unprofessional it’s stunning. I just wanted a tracking number. I called him he said he’d send it. Days later, nothing, called again, straight to voicemail. Then, I text him (same number) as it says on his website since “his emails go to junk” and to text him. After a couple of texts, one morning, one evening, the next day I said it was my third and final request for a tracking number before I have to contest the charge and write a review. I explained the phone calls. All of this was coridal, and I have the text chain to prove it. His response? Take a guess. Did he say sorry? Did he say he’s been busy? Did he show an ounce of contrition? No. He sent a pic of it travelling which had a tracking number, followed by……wait for it…..”you seriously need to relax.” Suffice it to say that our dialogue went down from there. I wish I had looked at reviews. he’s discussed on multiple forums. Flagged by better business bureau! Myriad examples of not receiving things, etc etc etc. One user said he threatened him and know where you live, etc. and that the police were involved! (To avoid legal action let me clearly state I am not saying that happened, but rather relaying what someone else has described.). This is straight out of “The Feather Thief.” Receipts and tracking numbers, and some level of professionalism are not too much to ask. There is something wrong with this guy. This is Jan 25. Nothing has changed. Avoid Feather Emporium like the plague! I am biased with a place up on the West Branch of Delaware, but I love Dette Fly Shop. Small business, and very professional. If you’re going small business I like them. I hope that I save someone else their time, and that they avoid the frustration and insults. Why pay for that?! flytire 0 Report post Posted January 17 feather emporium has been discussed before on this forum nothing new some have had good experience others have not maybe an internet search would have prevented you from going there
JImmyR 0 Report post Posted January 17 Yeah it definitely would have. I didn’t think I’d need to. I haven’t had an experience like that before and I guess I just was trusting that it would be like anything else. It’s was only after that I googled reviews that my jaw dropped. The good news is that I try to learn from my mistakes. There is a ton of great info on here and I have so much to learn about tying that I can tell this will be a great resource. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep trying to learn.
