Gray Ghost

Hook - Partridge CS15, #4
Thread - White and black
Tag - Flat silver tinsel
Ribbing - Flat silver tinsel
Body - Orange floss
Under belly - 4-6 strands of peacock herl, then white bucktail
Throat - Golden pheasant crest
Wing - Golden pheasant crest, then 4 gray hackles. Crest and hackles are of equal length
Shoulders - Silver pheasant body feather
Cheeks - Jungle Cock
Head - Black with an orange band

i tied on the wings first, pre-assembled the shoulder and cheek and then tied that on

I would do the same, I read that book this week and I found the tying instruction to be the least detailed chapter, lol.  The pre assembly makes sense to me for production tying as I’m sure it would speed things up but for one offs I see it limiting your ability to adjust things when tying in.  I was also surprised they indicated to use l lacquer in place of a rubber cement to allow for more movement but I’m definitely no expert

i just used a spot of gorilla super glue to hold the jungle cock feather to the silver pheasant feather. probably not what a purist would use and i'm not one of those

no expert here either
