Basslover14 0 Report post Posted January 23 Hello everyone! I am new to fly tying and I am going to be going up into the Catskills in the summer, what lures should I use?
flyflinger 0 Report post Posted January 23 Lures? . . . you don't need any "lures". You need flies !!!! 🤣 😃 You are going to the place that many people consider the birthplace of fly fishing in America. Enjoy! Regards,
mikechell 0 Report post Posted January 24 Welcome to the site. You'll have to be more specific as to what waters you'll be fishing. I know there are areas that only offer trout, some that have bass and panfish. But use whatever you have. If you don't catch anything, try something else. I'm a firm believer that fish are, basically, dumb. You throw a 5 inch Rapala to a fish that's never seen one, and you'll likely get a strike ... no matter what kind of fish it is. What you DO have to be careful of is, many of the clear water areas, if you see the fish, it sees you and it won't hit anything. But good luck, and tell us (with pictures) how you do!
