Fly Tying Contest - What happens to the flies?

Recommended Posts

What happens to the flies submitted in this contest? Are they utilized to raise money for the FFF, United Fly Tiers, TU, or other organization, or do they just go into someone's personal collection and fishing boxes?

I see that contest rules state, " All submissions become property of FlyTyingForum.com and can be used for any means that is deemed necessary." You also said that you received 440 flies last year... Where are they now?

You really think Will tied up all those flies he lost last year? If you ever get a chance to fish with him check out his fly boxes! LOL... Kiddin bowfin from what I've seen he makes a display case with the flies in them to promote his website.

All the flies from the past years of contest and currently being mounted in display cases that will travel with me to show off the talented members we have here. I have a booth at a local fly fishing show next year and I plan on having at least 5 18" x 24" display cases full of contest flies.

Thanks Will,

It's nice to know that at last my flies will be displayed at a show for once in my life.

What are the chances of hitting some of the other shows around the country. It is probably too late for this year, but I am sure several guys in the north east would be thrilled to man a booth at the Somerset, NJ show. It would be great to plan for a team of guys to promote the FTF at every show around the country.

I would be willing to be there at my expense for the weekend. You could probably hook a laptop up with access to the site, and ups your convention materials and displays to different reps. just a thought.

I am defiently interested in other shows, I wanted to do this small local show first just to get a feel of how to run a booth. Hopefully next "show season" I will be able to get out to some other areas.

Just let me know if I could help.

I do a lot of events (mostly host retreats and trainings across the state of PA) and do a couple of promotional venues). I have a trade show display board and all that goes with it.

I would be glad to call on the pa and NJ guys and girls.

How about some pics of the finshed display boxes posted here on the site somewhere.

I would like to get a feel for hte average quality. I know there are many more talented tyers than myself. I have wondered if I send i some flys for the heck of it if I would even make middle the middle of hte road.

Besides I would just like to see them all.

Just a sugetion.

My bad,

Sorry I just looked at all the pics from last year. Great job. I still think the majority of you guys are way more talanted than I am however. Good thing hte fish don't seem to mind all that much.

Merry Christmas.

Robert
