Guest Report post Posted January 10, 2004 Here is a balsa popper that Big Daddy Hubbard mailed me and I must say it is one of the nicest hoppers I've seen. We have been experimenting with balsa lately and have created some unique designs compared the standard popper patterns. Anyway here is a pic

Guest Report post Posted January 11, 2004 the coloer turned out great, but I couldn't figure out how to incorporate a little brown and tan into the scheme withouyt completely gumming the whole thing up....my freehand painting skills leave quiet a bit to be desired....but overall I was pleased with the form of the fly....tied on a #2 kink shank...big hopper...gonna hit the streams with it for bass in Late August when the big Morman hatch hits. Guest Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Great looking hopper BD! It would also make a fine cricket in black!
Guest Report post Posted January 12, 2004 Jim, you're psychic!! I just finished a nice criket this very morning....shaped it a bit smaller, but it turned out great! Really digging the balsa work...hell, may get good at it one day!
