Stoned fly

Recommended Posts

Good Day,

Hmmm, you know, we have been known to use stone flies with a lot of blue or purple in them here in West Michigan on such Rivers as the Pere Marquette or Manistee as examples. Now, there are no naturals in these colors, but the steelhead still like them.... who knows.

Perhaps the steelies go after these as they are more or less the same color as unfertilized eggs that get washed out of redds? My brother lives in Traverse City has a number of people that work for him that fly fish. They have said that the light blue egg patterns far outfish any other color for them on the Boardman.

Nice looking fly. I like the colors and believe that purple and blue flies work well in many unexpected places. I fish a lot of purple and blue flies and brownies like them, both east coast and west coast fish.
