Wow, amazing setup you have there. Organization, yeah organization, that is my New new year's resolution. I really like those spool holders you have on the left cabinets. Are they available online somewhere? I was considering trying to make something, but those would make my life remarkably simpler.

troutninja 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 fairwxflyfish, That is a great setup! I especially enjoy the German Shepherd for Dummies book on the bench. But seriously, the next time my wife tells me that I have too many flies or that my tying table is taking up too much room, all I have to do is show her this thread! :headbang:

lykos33 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2009 Hello All, Many years ago when I was guiding a lot of extended multi-day backcountry and wilderness trips, I quickly realized that it wasn't feasible (not to mention comfortable) to carry a vest packed with dozens of small boxes. Instead, I ditched the vest and invested in larger plastic boxes and a soft tackle bag that could carry 6-8 large boxes at a time in the boat with me. The versatility of this setup has saved my ass more times than I can count. The boxes are Plano model 3600 that measure 7" x 10.5" and have 18 compartments. I put labels along the sides so I can tell at a glance what the contents are and can swap them out throughout the season as the fishing conditions change. When I go out wade fishing where carrying a tackle bag isn't practical, I then fill a couple of smaller boxes from the larger boxes. The larger boxes remain my method for organizing, carrying and storing my flies. Here is a picture of some 40 Plano boxes storing some of my flies. There's probably somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 flies here. keep it deep, whippersnapper 2 words....ADOPT ME!
