The "Walkers Cay Chronicles" episode airing the weekend of 2/21-22, on ESPN2 was filmed at a place called the "Wilds" which is about 45 minutes East of columbus, Ohio. I mentioned this a while back in another thread, but the show schedule wasn't posted yet. The "Wilds" is a reclaimed strip mine area that is now set up as some sort of co.op for several large zoos in Ohio. They started out just raisng hay and other plants to feed the zoo animals and then began releasing thier surplus herd animals to run loose there.........the place is loaded with hundreds of small ponds and lakes(with more being created each year by the large beaver population). It's been closed for fishing until recently. Now a fly shop out of Columbus has some sort of agreement with the place and they run a couple trips a year there........hence the walkers cay episode. I've never fished the "Wilds", but right next door is another 10's of thousands of acres known as "Ohio Powerlands"(I think the name just changed, but I forget what they call it now). I try to go there atleast once each year and it makes for some tremendous bass/bluegill fishing. they have free campgrounds and the fishing permits are free. As long as you don't go on one of the big "redneck" holidays, you pretty much have the place to yourself. I usually camp on one of the bigger lakes and then take my bellyboat and hike back to some of the more secluded ponds/lakes for some great fishing.
