Try going to the fly pattern database on this site, click on" search " , go to the "select target species" area and pick "panfish" and see what you get. lots of pictures of panfish flies tied by the tiers on this site.

Hi snikosh, welcome aboard! You'll find a bunch of great Bluegill flies in the database, and after you look over them, post about any specific direction you want to go in with the flies and we'll kick off this 'gill season with a bang!

some pics of flies I made last fall. You can call them good smallie and sunnie flies. I fish water with both and of course some LMB for fun.

Also, keep in mind that bluegills love many of the trout patterns. If you see one that looks good to you, tie it sized right for gills and give it a try. Just last week the wife and I caught some large (9") gills on #14 Hare's Ears.

Give the Bully Bluegill Spider a try, its easy to tie and has good action in the water. Also try a Woolyworm in white with a red butt. Both of these patterns have proven effective for me.

The white Woolyworm works for me too, also try some soft hackle nymphs. Panfish seem to eager to take trout flies. Just a thought, give it a try and let us know.
