Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 I haven't spun any deer hair in quite a while and quite frankly I'm bored out of my skull waiting for some warmer weather so I thought it would be a good night to practice. I must say I was disappointed that I didn't pack the hair as much as I would like but I'm a bit rusty so it came out decent for the first attempt. pacres 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2004 Hey Will, I'm in the same boat. Your are looking a little nicer though. Mabey next winter I'll take to spinning a little better.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 Yea when I began trimming it I realized how loosely packed the hair was so I didn't spend alot of time getting a nice trim. If I get the time tonight to play with another one tonight it should turn out better because that was my first one in a few months and I was never an expert at it to begin with. Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 Pack the hair with a large coat button; a rifle or shotgun cartridge with the spent primer removed; a small piece of flat plastic with a hole or holes drilled in it; a purchased brass tweezer/nipper-like tool available in your Feather-Craft catalog - or if you have gorilla grips like I do, your fingers. Also, don't forget that there are times it will be easier to flare one side then the other instead of trying to spin the hair.
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 Yea I usually pack it with my fingers and haven't had any problems but it was my first go at it in a couple of months so I guess I was more rusty than what I thought
Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 the little palstic "sope" cones that your doc uses on his eyes, ears, and nose equipment make great disposalable pacers....snatch a few on your next visit....that what your HMO pays for!!
NEMIsportsman 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2004 QUOTE snatch a few on your next visit....that what your HMO pays for!! Being an employee of a Health System that lost millions of dollars last year...I have "flagged your chart" and brought it to the attention of other facilities throughout the Midwest. Unfortunately you will have some degree of difficulty getting medical care. That being said it is an excellent suggestion and I will have to pick myself up a few! Guest Report post Posted January 20, 2004 Looks pretty good Next time try estimating the length of the collar before spinning it. Without trimming it, the natural hair tips will give it that "look".
