dafack01 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I've just recently realized that I LOVE reading. Reading a good book is a GREAT way to pass the time and escape. And I think my favorite novelist is John Irving. I've read (in order) A Prayer for Owen Meany, The World According to Garp, and The Cider House Rules. I'm almost through A Widow for One Year. If anyone likes reading and hasn't tried a John Irving novel, I HIGHLY recommend it. I could go on and on about what's so great about John Irving's books. And I never thought that someone could make James Bond look like a GIRLIE MON (in my best "Hanz and Franz" voice) untill I read the Jason Bourne trilogy. Carver 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I love reading too, but I find my self reading instructional books (how to's) like finishing wood, router jigs things like that. It drives my wife nuts, I have books on every subject I've ever been interested in. It usually works out ok for her though because my wealth of useless knowlege builds her a lot of stuff, so she can kiss my :butt: ! Don't tell her I said that! Blues Brother 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I'm an avid reader and a huge fan of the art of the short story. Hemingway is da man. And a fisherman, too. ~Bryce
harleyhunter 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 This is a funny subject. When in school I hated reading at all. I use to have people give me the answers (not proud of it) on test about books we were suppose to be reading. Now that I'm out of school I love reading books about hunting, climbing Mt. Everest and other mountains (my favorite), military biographies, and now fly tying and fishing. -Sam
mcfly 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 Big fan of books... I have boxes full of many that I'll probably never get to read but I want too.

Sean Juan 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2006 I love to read. My favorite books are history books though especially those written fairly close to the time of the events. I just find it interesting just how much depends upon people's personalities, bad luck, or simple mis-understandings. I also love those choose your own adventure books, I recently started digging through my books to find better story books, I found those and been tearing through them. Ah the joys of nerddom. TerryLee 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 And I never thought that someone could make James Bond look like a GIRLIE MON (in my best "Hanz and Franz" voice) untill I read the Jason Bourne trilogy. Yeah, and the movies didn't do him any justice. Bourne is the man. I love to read, just about anything. I just don't have much time for it now. I have a literature class in the fall, though, so I'll have to make time I guess. Later, Terry
Slacker 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Can see we have quite a few readers around here. I love to read as well. I have loved reading ever since I was a kid. Cliche is that these are the kids that excell in school but that was not the case for me. I was just plain old average. :dunno: My biggest problem is that I read more than one book at a time. I try to read three books at once. One fiction, one professional and one general interest. Currently reading: Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe Who Killed the Canadian Military by Jack Grantestein Deceiving Trout author escapes me at the moment Second biggest problem is that I am not disciplined enough to only have three books on the go at once. I am always picking books up and trying to finish them or promising to pick them up soon. Anyone read "Life of Pi" by Yan Martel? I bet many of you would like this one. Forget that it was an Opera book. It was a bestseller here before Opera made this one a global best seller. Tim
goody 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 I too like to read, all sorts. Wierd or not , i love to "read" maps, new and old. I used to work at an antique map gallery in Boulder, Co. and would do all the custom picture framing. We'd frame 100 year, 200 year 300year old maps that had some amazing detailing and were incredibly accurate! I have a couple of 'DRIANAGE' maps from the US GOELOGICAL and GEOGRAFICAL SURVEYS by F.V. Hayden from 1887 and 1889. One of the state of Colorado and the other of 'portions' of Wyoming, Idaho and Utah. Both are fun to look at! The Forest Service maps a great to to find those high mountain lakes and streams!
