Steelie, I thought I saw A post of you ribbing someone and you mentioned Salmon in the Little in July,it must have been someone else. This is 10th year on the Little for me in regards to early runs

Was that caught already this year? Or in a previous year? Cause the earliest I've seen 'em in there is around the 4th of July.

Good Day,

Ah yes Bruce! I remember. A little good hearted ribbing goes a long way! Ha Ha :D

You are correct. I seem to remember that post too. I have seen the early run salmon as early as late June or early July myself and have heard reports of even earlier! Just like your photo proves. I think with the rain up there and the water temps at the lake certainly had or have had something to do with it. However, I am of the opinion that salmon in the Lake Michigan for examp-le, are really spreading out farther and farther in the timeing of their runs. I have seen these early brutes but have also caught and seen salmon spawning as late as mid-december. Kings mind you, not coho yet. Great fish, and don't post it on the infamous few Michigan forums for fear that the hillbillies will be out there with their broom handles and giant treble hooks! :o

On a similar note, I have seen steelhead actively spawning as late as mid June in West Michigan. Just have to know where to look I suppose. Ha Ha

Steelie
