mylar tubing?

Recommended Posts

Hi sniksoh,

It has many uses. Let me quickly outline two:

1. Cut a segment that is about 3/4 the length of the hook shank. Attach tying thread at the back of the hook, remove the fabric core from the tubing, and slip it on the hook shank. Bind it at the back of the hook, whip-finish, and trim. Reattach the thread at the front of the hook tying the front part of the tubing to the shank. Tie on a bunny fur strip and a hackle and you've just completed a simple Zonker type pattern.

2. Tie a segment of tubing on the hook just like you did in the previous paragraph. Whip-finish both front and back. Flatten the tubing and epoxy in place to form a spoon fly. Another coat or two of epoxy may be used. The larger tubing makes better spoon flies than the small does.

Enjoy this great tying material. Take care & ...
