Crackelback 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 I'm working on building a new tying bench, and I want to include a hackel gauge built into my desk, so...does anyone know where I can get a printable hackel gauge that I can use? I did see a hackel gauge at the fly shop this past weekend, but I'm too cheap to spend $7.00 on plastic and paper!
boba 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 Try Hook and Hackle. <http://www.hookhack.com/tyingtools.html> Scroll down a bit. Their gauge is $3.25. It's the same as higher priced ones. I have 4. I keep one in my travel tying kit and keep one in each of the three locations where I regularly tie. The gauge fits on the stem of your vise. Hook and Hackle is also good for materials and hooks if you know just what you want.
pacres 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2006 If you buy the cheap gauges, be sure to get one that is centered properly. I have seen lots of the cheaper model with off center sticker placement, skewing the actual hackle sizes. Just get one on the nice aluminum Whiting ones.
