Fishable realistic patterns

Recommended Posts

This topic is ment to be a place where we can keep our fishable realistic patterns. Please try and always include recipe as a minimum and if you can there is always great to have tying instructions and/or step by step photos aswell as where/when/how info on fishing with it.

Please keep all coments and discussions about the patterns to it's own topic: "Coments about the fishable realistics" and post only the patterns here. This way we can keep this topic as "clean" as possible making it easy for members to browse through the flies.

Lephtoblebia marginata mayfly nymf

Hook: Any straight nymf hook size 12

Thread: Uni 12/0 and Uni 17/0

Tails: Golden pheasant tail fibers

Underbody: Addishive lead sheat and 12/0 thread

Abdomen: VN Nymf skin natural coloured with brown marker and golden markers

Thorax: VN Nymf skin

Gills: The very lowest part of a brown cock hackle feather

Legs: Golden pheasant tail fibers

Wingbud: Two stripped goose biots

Head: Tying thread

Where? The Lephtoblebia is very much a still water mayfly, so I would fish this one in lakes and very slow moving parts of streams.

When? The Lephtoblebia is one of the first to hatch here in sweden, normally a activly fished nymf pattern can be fished with great results when you see the first adults hatch. This is a time where there will be alot of nymfs moving around under the surface getting ready to swim and the trout just eat away on the nymfs!

How? This particular mayfly nymf is a very good swimmer and can be fished very activly

Head: Melted broom bristle and golden pheasant tail fibers

Where? The Siphlonurus is very much a still water mayfly, so I would fish this one in lakes and very slow moving parts of streams. It sticks close to land where it can hide in the vegetation

When?

How? This particular mayfly nymf is the best swimmer of all the mayflies here in sweden and can be fished very activly

Ephemera mayfly nymf

Hook: Tiemco swimming nymf size 10

Thread: Uni 12/0

Tails: Natural ostrich

Underbody: Adhessive lead and yellow dubbing

Abdomen top: Turkey

Abdomen underside: summer duck substitute or lemmon duck

Legs: Root ends of natural ostrich

Wingbuds: black goose biots

Head: Same as abdomen

I skipped the gills because I think they added to little considering the time it took getting them to look nice. The legs are "Veli auti" style but using fine ostrich herls instead of golden pheasant tail.

Good Day,

Uffe,

Back to the first post... Have you considered making the head out of thicker foam? I am thinking of a pre-emergent nymph. One that has hit the film but the wing pads have not yet split? Hmmmm...

Hydropsychidae Caddisfly Larva

IPB Image

IPB Image

IPB Image

Hook: 8-10

Head - black thread

Legs - gold pheasant tail

Step by step:

1. Wind a lead on hook

2. Green thread on it ( underbody )

3. Then an animal skin ( Specially prepared before tie. The preparation of the body material is the most difficult, time consuming and important process which gives the final result you can see ) - white hair are the opposite side of the skin

Thorax : is painted on brown

Hope it helps and you will understand my description :)
