Blue Mallard Wing or Blue Peacock Body Feathers

Recommended Posts

The second fly in the link that follows is a fly called "Gilly" that has a blue wing. The material list suggests using a blue mallard wing feather and the description that follows states that the fly in the picture was tied using a blue peacock body feather. Does anyone know where I could get either of those two types of blue feathers?

I checked J.Stockard and they don't have them, though I suspect they could get them, they are not that uncommon. Barring that, try your local shop they can order them I would think and if you need a few to get by with I can give you a few. :)

If you're still needing some mallard wing feathers...I"m hitting the duck hole in the morning. I have plenty for myself. Hopefully we'll limit out on Greenheads tomorrow.

Breambuster,

The hunt didn't go as well as I would have liked today, but I did get 2 mallards and 2 wood ducks. I'm going to keep the woodie feathers for my stuff on these 2 birds, but I don't need the mallards. There is one drake and one hen. I would send you the whole wings if you'd like, or if you just need the blue feathers, I can send those to you. I'll be hunting the rest of the week and probably next. (luckily school doesn't start back for me until the 16) So there is a good chance that I'll have some more.

Let me know,
