Step by Step Swap

Recommended Posts

This swap is cancled.

Ok, so here is the idea: a swap where every swapper will tie 12 of any fly he wishes and also make a new addition to the step by step database. Let's see one of your favorite flies or something you do a little differently than most. I think this would be good practice for anyone and help us to look at what we do in more detail. It would also add 13 new patterns to the step by step forum. And, how many times have you recieved your flies for a swap and wondered how they were made. This will certainly be more work than a normal swap because you will have to do the photography and work that goes along with it. However, I think it could turn out to be a memorable one. Let's see if we can put together a good swap with quality pictures and well thought out instructions.

Here are a couple of links to good some good step by step posts:

I like that this one shows the materials before the pattern starts.

This one does a good job of showing material prep.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to you. One last thought, this one may not fill up so I would like to do it with those who are interested even if we don't get 12.

what's the due date? I'm in. I was shown a pattern that works very well a few years ago. I have used it in swaps before a couple times because it produces fish (at least when I use it)

it's called a rhino midge- it's probubly my favorite fly.

I was thinking of setting a due date around April 1. This would give everyone about two months so you don't have to feel rushed.

DaUP, yeah that would make it tough.

We can talk more about the due date if people need it adjusted, but I don't think we would want to rush this one.

Any restrictions on the type of fly? I have a pretty good smally pattern that I came up with that I call the PCB ( piney creek bi*ch ) it's doing pretty well with the smallies around here. If that'll work, count me in...and April will be a great due time.

I agree. If we don't get a few more though, it may not be worth it. I leave that up to you guys. I'm up for it either way. Let's see if we can get a few more on the list.

I thought this might happen. It does require some extra time and a camera. I thought more people would be interested. Well lets give it a day or two and then decide if we should proceed.

The theme is just doing a step by step, so any fly would be fine. Preferably something that you do a little different or your own fly.

A step by step for hatches would be cool. That would fit into this category.
