easterngray 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2007 Here's my first version of a Wee Bass. Note how this little fellow is chasing a bug! Plenty of room for improvement here, but this is just the first go around. I intend to do a whole series of these 2-part flies. Tight lines to all you brothers of the angle! Mandoyak 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2007 Very cool concept & nice deer hair work. Only thing I can think to adjust would be using a hook with a wider gap for easier hook-ups. Keep up the good work. John
fly time 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2007 That has gotta be one of the most outta the box ideas I have seen in a long time, I really like it, I agree with the wider gap comment, but overall great work, keep em comin!!!!! Dustin
Twofingerz 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2007 pretty cool! how does it sit in the water? does the front bug weigh it down too much?

TerryLee 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 We used to use a similar rig when I chunked hardware full time. We would tie a small Zara Spook about 6" ahead of a Super Spook (for those that don't know, a Zara Spook is a topwater plug) so that, when worked on the surface, it looked like a predator chasing a smaller prey. Didn't draw many strikes, but when it did they were memorable :headbang: !! That's a long winded way of saying nice fly . Terry
Mandoyak 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 I would think that the added weight wouldn't keep the fly all that far below the water surface, if it would at all. But if it did I think that would make for a great (if ever-so-below) topwater presentation...more surface disturbance = more bass attention! See, my logic works! easterngray 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2007 Thanks Fellas. Yes indeed - I am going to switch to a wider gaped ring-eyed hook. Better hook ups and the forward fly will ride better. I like how the predator swings easily on the wire loop. I'm gonna call this the "Predator and Prey Series" This is not my idea! I saw an old fly rod lure that had the same idea. I believe the fish was a plastic lure though. Tight lines! Alec
