Source of estaz (catus chenille) ?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a source to purchase bulk quantites of estaz (cactus chenille) ?

Over the years, I've purchased dozens of cards and would like to buy it bulk or by the skein. I've seen bulk quanitites in several shops that were wrapping their own 3 yd. cards, so I know that it should be available somewhere...

I once contacted a company that makes chenille for bulk quantities. They sent me a several page application form and wanted lots of cash to do so.

Here is a link to Glissen Gloss, they make estaz, you can contact them to see what they say. I know what you are saying about the material. It doesn't take long to use up a card.

I have seen simmilar products in dollar and craft stores that was cheaper and pretty much the same thing. I did buy some but cant remember the price or quantity. I only saw clear or pearlescent.

I have also used Artic Rays wispy fringe, very similar in price on a 8 yard card. here is a fly i have tied with it,

It is slightly different than estaz or cactus chenille as there are not as may pieces of material sticking out from the core, (not as bulky and slightly longer strands.) I used a marker to make it black

Here is a link to the colours, and bet if you look around craft type stores you will be able to find it and see if it will work for what you want

There is also crystal chenille, it is bulky like estaz but I find a little shorter pieces of material sticking out.

Yeah, it's a serious bummer when you find a great color, run out of it, and then can't find it again. That's happened to me twice with cactus chenille.

I would check with other retailers as well. I have purchased quite a bit of bulk products from shops that put it in packages with their own store label on it. :)
