Need patterns with turkey for wet and dry for NH.

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine gave me the tail and breast feather skinned as well as both wings from a accident a turkey had with a motor vehicle. Turkey was not insured.

I have pounds of wild turkey feathers now. I am salting them as recommended to dry out the skin and the little bit of fat left on the skin.

He would like some wet and dry patterns for brookies and rainbows that are local to NH. I asked him hook size and he said trout size.

I need some help here, I have tied all in sizes 8 and up. Any ideas for some patterns???

Dave

Gotta love Turkey..........Those tail feathers I spray with fixative & use them for wingcases on my Hares Ear nymphs......or any Nymph for that matter. Its one of the reasons for my bumper sticker :

sounds like you may have more feathers than you could use. look into using the stripped quils to tie dries, like the mosquito, or even the mosquito nymph. the northeast mosquito is deadly in later months, anytime of day, except when it's raining. could probably sub it for any pheasant tail fly also. with as much as you have, you could even try dyeing it, rit is cheap, available anywhere.
