Hot Tuna 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2007 I'm feeling the guilt...do you guys(and gals) get to the airport 5 hours before flight time??? Just kidding...I just recently entered the fly you will be receiving from me in a local fly tying contest..if I get lucky, I'll win a 7'11'' 4 wt Orvis Power Matrix...but I might just get beat by Flygirl or Redwings; they're in the contest too. breambuster 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 My flies for this swap are in the mail. Let me say a word of explanation about my submission. This was a pattern I found on the Dick Talleur website. I tied it as he suggested except that he used rabbit fur and partridge hackle dyed olive. I had neither item in olive & so I tied mine with natural colors. He called this pattern a "bead head hare's ear soft hackle," but it looks more like a "bead thorax" to me because the bead is BEHIND the hackle. But whatever, it looks like a very effective pattern to me. I am looking forward to trying it on the 'gills here in the South, & I would be interested to know how it works for trout. Thank, Todd, for hosting. Great swap. BB
