GIANT Dubbing dispenser

Recommended Posts

Well, Ive been meaning to do this for quite awhile & since I was home sick, feelin like crap :(

I decided to take my large plastic tackle box with adjustable compartments & make it into a dubbing dispenser. A GIANT dubbing dispenser that now has room for 48 types of dubbing

and it also fits nicely into my Fly Hive :) ......sad thing is I only have room for 6 more colors/types of dubbing. Anybody else into making their own dispensers ?

Rather than break out the drill for making the holes, I heated up the soldering iron & used that.....since I was already sick I didn't notice the fumes.. much

I made a couple. The one has 36 compartments and I have another with 10 and a third that is half full with another 10 full compartments. I also put labels on the lid with the colour and make, so I can replace it accurately. If you do drill holes in these a high speed drill is better than most of the cordless drills as the slower speed bit tends to damage the plastic too much. :)

those various pill containers with 6, 7, 8 or more small lidded compartmetns work well as dubbing dispensers (particularly for travel). Just drill a small hole in each (on the flat side, not the lidded side), as noted above.

If you're like me and don't have a high speed drill, take your cordless drill and first make a hole with the smallest drill bit you have. Then go back and make the hole bigger by using the size bit that you want your hole to be. The small hole first tends to create less problems with the plastic when you make the bigger hole.

A friend of mine uses blood vials, and he recently hooked me up with about 15 of them. I haven't yet used them, but hope to soon. He likes how they work out, plus they came with the fancy little holder!

PS - if you use them, make sure they are empty of blood first! B)
