Guest Report post Posted April 17, 2007 From the day that we officially decided to launch a new generation of fly tying magazines one of our biggest hurdles was the name. We have gone back and forth several times on this subject until we decided to go with "Fly Tying Magazine" when the announcement was made to the public. At the time, we felt like Fly Tying Magazine was a good name that would immediately identify our focus to an audience that has never heard of the publication before. Also, at the time the magazine was announced we agreed that if, or when we decided on a better name we would make the switch before printing the premiere issue. Since that day we have gathered a lot of great feedback from many of our members as well as several companies within the industry. Everyone has been very supportive of the new concept but many felt that the magazine deserved a stronger and more creative name. The Hatches Magazine website was brought up several times as being the type of name we should embrace; something creative and unique. Something that everyone could easily remember and identify with. After these discussions and several conversations with the people involved with the magazine we decided that we already had the perfect name all this time! To make a long story short, Hatches has now grown from the online magazine that everyone has come to know and love to a print magazine that I hope you all can embrace as well! With that said, I will officially say that the online version of Hatches will live on and in fact will be better than ever! Now that Hatches will exist in a combination of both print and web mediums, I have a renewed vision of the future of the Hatches website. As I announced before Hatches will no longer be a monthly feature due to time constraints I can guarantee that I will continue to add articles, product reviews and fly patterns that everyone will enjoy. Hatches Magazine is accepting pre-orders! Along with the announcement of the name change we would also like to make everyone aware of the fact that we are now taking pre-orders for the premiere issue! At this time the target date for shipping is September 1st, 2007 but we would like to offer anyone interested in pre-ordering the option to do so while saving 20% off the cover price. Best of all, our credit card processing company allows us to accept orders without charging your credit card so that you will not be charged for the magazine until it is ready for shipping. for ordering details visit: http://www.hatchesmagazine.com We would also like to announce our official list of articles and authors that will be showcased in the premiere issue of Hatches Magazine!
