pallagust 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 Thanks for the nice comments guys... This is my "secret" when I've fished pool that is packed with salmon and no fly interest any salmon... I put Blue Elver tube and strip it fast and .... well just try it out.
John K 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 By far one of the nicest looking tube fly`s I`ve ever seen! Not very often that you see feathers used in the wing. Could you give a little info on the materials and tying. John K
pallagust 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 Hi John.. thanks for the nice comment... The feather wing are Vulterine feathers and the hackle is Cobalt feathers that are also on Vulterine Fowl bird (http://castlearms.com/vulterine.html ). I have never seen a feather tyed on a tube but this works as long as it put on right. If not the tube rotates continuesly if not but correctly on the tube... John K 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Is Vulterine the same as Guniea Fowl? The white striped feather looks a lot like feathers found on Jungle cock skins. Do you tie them on long or short tubes? John
pallagust 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Hi John... Yes this is Vulterine Guniea Fowl ( Acryllium vulturinum ) with Jungle Cock as sides. I normally tie them on a 8 - 10 cm tubes. Body is black icelandic wool and a silver ribbing. I always use plastic because I strip the tube fast on the surface... I haven't tried to tie the Elver on heavy tube...
