That doesn't look like it'll catch fish... I think you should tie up a couple dozen in various sizes and mail them to me. I'll use 'em to ahhhh... make a windchime. Yeah... that's it.

 

Seriously, though... very nice tie. I had a guided day on the water and fished the whole day with a small caddis pupa as a dropper to a big scud... the caddis took almost all the fish.

What is the hackle material that you used. It looks like Ostrich Hurl with a hackle in the middle?

ok here we go

Taylors Caddis Pupa

1.put on bead,, wrap lead onto front 1/4 of hook

tie down with thread

2.wrap thread down and ad copper wire

3.dub body/wrap wire rib

4.from a died black pheasant rump patch

behind the hackle is a very fine small feather

tie in about a third a way from head 2 wraps

5.with wet fingers lay feather back

6.tie in small brown soft hackle

7.tie in antenna/i use pheasant tail

8.tie on ostrich hurl for colar

I tie this in tan green and brown

Very nice fly Randy, it looks like a fish catcher for sure. How do you like your nor-vise? I just bought one two weeks ago and just love it.

I did some experimenting with this fly.

I tyed it on a larger hook,and tyed the

body in a orangish color to imitate an

october caddis.On the rogue river near

grants pass,last week i caught a 28

and 26 inch steelhead using this pattern.
