Don Stracener 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2007 Thanks for the comments. With this one soak the fly 10 min before you use it. The tail is weighted, and the front body has float foam to get the fly standing up on it's tail. Everyone's fly looks great, it will be fun trying them out. dsaavedra 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 great googly moogly! that fly is kick ass! cant wait to get one. do you guys think its a problem that my fly is tied claws first hook down? (i dont tie craws very often :dunno: )
dsaavedra 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 whats that made out of anyway? it looks like you shaved a deer hide or something like that??? i'd like to get a recipe or possible set of instructions for that!
riffleriversteelheadslayer 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 most craws are tied tail to the eye of the hook due to its natural swiming motion but I tie a few the way you di and fish them really slow on the bottom to mimic its natural walking motion so I would say its fine
Don Stracener 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 dsaavedra The top of the fly and the claws are made from Ultra Swede. I'll work on getting a receipe together. Got another 5 flies with claws in place this morning, as you might guess this pattern takes some time to tie.
dsaavedra 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2007 ok thanks don. where can i get this ultra suede? and riffle, thats what i was goin for, the walking motion, that way if a fish saw it they wouldnt think it was threatening and would eat it. but what about snags?
