Dying the tips of silicon legs

Recommended Posts

Working on some crab patterns. Need to permanently color the tips of silicon legging material (orange).

Any experience?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Another option is to check out a catalog like Barlow's or Jann's Netcraft that sell the makings for spinner bait skirts. I just checked Barlow's and they have three different skirts with orange tips.

My original orange-tipped chartreuse silicon legs came from Barlows. They were bass spinner skirt material, but they came in a "mixed" skirt" bunch with just a few "tipped" legs in each bunch.

In order to dye my own legs, I’ve tried several different markers, but the ink just "balls-up" on the leg material, and that that does stick, washes off pretty quickly.

Which is why I was hoping that another tyer had experience coloring silicon leg materials.

Thanks,
