Dragonfly Larva (Odonta Anisoptera)?

Recommended Posts

My son found this nymph while playing in a small brook in the Adirondacks earlier this week. The nymph was lurking in the vegetation (i.e. - green slimy stuff). I tried to get a better picture of the nymph but he kept balling up and floating way with the current.

He hard to see in the picture, but had a flattened football shape body (mottled dark green).

Nice photo. It's a libellulid dragonfly nymph, probably a species of Libellula or Ladona; species determination requires a clearer examination of certain physical features that are not apparent in the photograph.

Cheers, Ethan
