sf(single feather)dry

Recommended Posts

Single feather flies are flies that are tied using one single feather. Usually the the feather is tied on the hook, and then applied in some combination between the feather and body material. Often, the feather is palmered into a collar and then laid down the length of the hook to use as a tail. Then a dubbed body is applied and the feather trimmed to the desired tail length.

The fall issue of Fly Fishing and Tying Journal had a nice article on Single-Feather flies, if you have a copy. If not, I have a scan of the flies from the article. PM me and I will e-mail it too you.

Be Well,

Olorin
