letumgo 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by letumgo: Altmar Specials (Woolly Bugger)
letumgo 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 My friend VERN-O sent me this pattern in a PM message recently and I had to give it a try. VERN-O indicated that a few years back an older fly tyer buddy of his gave him a couple "Altmar Specials" (Altmar is the town where the Lower Fly Zone is located on the Salmon River in NY state). According to VERN-O's friend, it is a very very good pattern for steelhead. VERN-O listed the pattern as follows: tail: black marabou tyed 1.5 - 2.0x hook shank body: pumpkin or dull orange chennile hackle: black or grizzly The pattern listed in the database is my best attempt to match the original pattern. I added a couple additional photos to the database showing each version (black and grizzly hackle). I can't wait to field test this pattern. Thanks VERN-O! mnorton 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 looks like a fish catcher to me......let us know how the field test goes cuz I have about 20 inches of chenille that is mixed pumpkin/black which would work real good on this pattern I think..plus it'll will give me a reason to hit atlmar this year havent been there in a couple years....
