Worstcaster 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 It will be one book shy, but "The Orvis Fly Tying Guide" and "The Fly Tyers Bench Reference" are both very good.
steelyjim 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 I supose that depends what you like tying most. One book for me is Mike Radencich's, Classic Salmon Fly Materials. I also like Nymph Fly Tying Techniques by Jim Schollmeyer.

bootow 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2008 may be a dumb question but what sort of things do you use the journal for?
Grunt 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2008 Streamside in my fly fishing journal I sketch ideas, draw bugs, and keep count of fish and the weather. On the bench I turn the ideas and sketches into flys. I must have written the answers for the worlds problems a dozen times also. In my case the journal is therapy. Check out some free ones by checking out this page: http://www.kwsu.org/Offers/OMNFlyTying.aspx "Fly Fishing and Fly Tying" is published in Scotland !!! It's my favorite from over the pond too - I didn't realize at first it was from Scotland. Too bad the overseas subscription is so pricey.
