My version of the Cascapedia

Recommended Posts

Gave a go at Schmookler's Cascapedia a little bit ago. Of course I didn't have the Banded gymnogene (Madagascar Harrier) which is endangered. But thanks to John's generosity I have some Kori hackles that look the part. Thanks John

Looks very nice. :headbang: its strange how things change. When i start tying i only use eyed hooks and liked them and disliked the blindeye hooks, now i like blindeyes and dislike the eyed but i still use em now and then :dunno: :)

This was tied on a 2/0 Dai-Rikki for fishing. Even though we don't have Atlantic salmon up here in Alaska many patterns are effective on Pacific salmon. I love landing 30-40 lb Chinooks on the Classics.

Here's the pattern as i could decipher from the only photo I have of it (Bates):

Tag: flat silver tinsel red silk

tail: GP crest and IC

Butt: Black Ostrich

Body: Flat silver tinsel

rib: Med oval silver tinsel

Hackle: I used Kori Bustard (Schmookler used Banded gymnogene)

Wing: Lady A tail feather, 2 Gp crests

Cheeks: IC sub

head:black

Thanks for the comments
