Michigan Trout Guy 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2008 Hey everyone, I have been neglecting my tying, fishing and unfortunately this site for a good year now. I can't remember the last time I tied a fly. I got really crazy with school and work and just did not make the time. But, I want to get back in the groove of things, and I need some ideas for patterns to tie. What are your favorite trout streamer patterns? Hmm, I might just have to start a trout streamer swap in the near future.

coulee fishing 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2008 gotta be the wooly bugger. I know this is going to open a whole can of worms. Is it a streamer or is it a nymph? IMO it is a streamer

Brookie 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 For standard patterns: olive wooly bugger zoo cougar I also fish a variety of wooly bugger-based variants of my own "design" (but they are basically still buggers) I have not fished it a lot but I do like a madonna a lot too. And I fish some rabbit and squirrel strip flies that are very similar to a slump buster.
Crotalus 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 Bunny leeches.
Kodiak Commando 0 Report post Posted January 21, 2008 I second bunny leeches. They are simple, easy to tie and versitale. I use them for trout in lakes or rivers on the sink, strip, drift or swing. And if i'm going after troutzilla nothings better than a leech colored bunny leech or a flesh colored one!

Old Hat 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2008 My favs to fish are: Muddler Minnow...I also like to fish these in small sizes Mohair leech...mostly a slackwater or stillwater pattern for me Mini Zonkers...#8-#14, I add a palmered hackle and use mink strips I love Slumpbusters, they are just cool to tie and look very effective, but haven't had much luck with them, either wrong water or just haven't figured out the best presentation. I have done well with them tied with a long tail and heavy barbell eyes for largemouth though. My favorite streamer to tie: Tomah Joe
