after tying for the bluegill swap and getting such great flies I decided they needed a home of their own so I built one now to fill it up any of you tyers got some ideas of your favorite bluegill flies please post a recipe and or a pic so I can fill this box up with the best of the best :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Nice flies and box. When I make a box for myself I might have you burn it for me (no no no not set it on fire) if you wouldn't mind. I'll gladly pay you for the work.

Oh, some flies I would add are a plain old black foam spider with black rubber legs. The few gills I've caught on it attacked it! Also some parachute mosquitoes. The mosquitos use a black hacle fiber tail, grey body and grizzly hackle. Actually probably any old drab dry fly would probably work like the all purpose Adams!

Very nice looking box.

 

For gills, a CDC & Elk is simple to tie and they absolutely KILL it.

 

Just google it and look for Hans W.'s (a member here) video of it. He invented the dang thing!

I tie a hares ear nymph using caddis green UV dubbing on a #14 or #12 mustad 9671 (If I recall correctly) a gold bead head and midge crystal flash for the wingcase and tail. This is a bonafied killer! It has taken tons of gills, LM bass, trout, wipers, crappie, perch and even a walleye for me.
