Soft-hackle 0 Report post Posted February 8, 2008 Hi Roy, Good to see you and your flies are here. I'm always impressed by their creativity and tying skill level. Are you going to be at the ClearWater Junction Fly tying event? Hopefully I'll get there. Mark

garren 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2008 I like the look of the fly. Have you tried fishing it? It would be interesting to see how it floats in the water. Garren
Guest Report post Posted February 9, 2008 Garren It hangs on its hackle, sinks its body; drags the tippet down below the surface film for clean presentation and it has caught hundreds, nay, 1000's of fish I have been using this fly in preference to any other emerger for about thirty years. It catches fish. Tie it and try it Roy
garren 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2008 Hi Roy, I just read Fish & Fly and saw that you were part of an article. I will have to give it a try. Makes sense about the tippet. What do you use as a post to tie the hackle around? Garren
Guest Report post Posted February 10, 2008 Garren the post is a parachute loop, see here http://ukflydressing.proboards83.com/index...read=1201548778 Scotfly has an excellent stepbystep on this link. There's also http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/f...080904fotw.html which is a bit more crazy, photoshoot by my girlfriend julia. Enjoy. For better tying instruction the Scotfly is better. Time moves on, things get refined. Roy
steelie 0 Report post Posted February 10, 2008 Good Day, Well tied fly! You know - I think it is important to have a few backward flies in the box. Steelie
Guest Report post Posted February 10, 2008 Agreed, Steelie, I fish virtually nothing else, just changing size and recipe to suit They are good for hanging a nymph underneath too Cheers, Roy
