SW0352 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2008 I just couldn't stand it anymore. Went out tonight and bought the Nikon D40 package that Vito was asking about. I am friggin STOKED! I've been wanting a good camera for awhile now and after seeing pics from several of you guys on here, I've been truly inspired. I can't wait to get out and start shooting. Many, many questions to follow soon. Vito, thanks for letting me/us know about the package deal Best Buy had. Great deal.

Guidofisherman 0 Report post Posted February 23, 2008 Congratulations. I also 'bit the bullet' and just bought the Nikon D40 body with the 18-200 VR zoom. What a difference from my old P&S camera.
Mr. Steelhead 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 I had a D40 for about a month and had to get rid of it. Absolutely loved it but a neighbor brought me a Nikon 4004 film camera that he had 6 very nice lenses for and a new Flash system. Now since he gave me all of this stuff for free, and it would not work completely on the D40 because of some technology advances for the Auto Focus system that was used on the D40. I had a freind who wanted the D40 and was willing to buy my complete kit for the same price I paid for it. So off it went and I found a NOS D50 for a really awsome price and now both of us are happy. The D50 is a very nice camera also and there are very little differences between the two but the D50 can make full use of all the glass and accessories from the Never leave batteries in a camera and forget they are there. This is why I got the 4004, he left the AA batteries in it and they leaked and ruined the camera. I was not disappointed though. I got about 2000 dollars worth of glass that is in execellent condition for free. I really like that price.
