Bobcat???

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the replies. I didn't stop to think about the legal side because I have heard of so many taken around here that I made the mistake to assume that they are legal to have, not to mention them being endangered. I saw some on an online catalog and wanted it so when a cousin called me and said he had one, I just couldn't resist. I will do some research and see if I am breaking any Virginia laws. Oh yeah, if its legal, it is very soft and will make great dubbing, but I hadn't thought of hair wings. Thanks...

Bobcats are legal. If you get a pelt from another state and it is untanned, it must have a CITES tag attached to it. It's part of the fur trade legalities. It will make good dubbing. If it's a full hide with tail and claws included...I might be interested in buying it for taxidermy purposes and give you some bobcat fur that I have laying around.

arkfisher, thanks for the information. The exit wound on its shoulder was beyond repair, so it now resides in zip-lock bags. I used to dabble in taxidermy when I was younger, and considered mounting this one when I received the call about it, but when I saw how damaged it was, I knew that it was beyond hope. Great dubbing though!

Thanks, and Take Care
