N.U.Angler 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 This is definately one of the old patterns, the fish camps at the time were packed into Steamboat by horse and mule train from Glide. And if I remember right it's about the time Zane Grey also fished the river. Most people don't know, but the fish camps were on the other side of the river where the Forest Service is now, and the lodge was moved later to where Steamboat Inn now resides, where the Moores took over and ran it for a number of years. Kinda sketcy history, cause there are a lot of other people that deserve to be here along with Major Mott and others, without having to dig out my books and do some research. I tied a bunch of these for my box a couple a days ago.

Speyman1 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2008 Very Cool, N.U.Angler, Beautiful tie as well. It's ironic that we were both working on this at the same time, It's great to see fellow tiers tying the old one's as it were, a lot of these old patterns are so good it's hard to imagine a new pattern that will do better. But, thats how new patterns develop and us as well. I look forward to your next oldie if your working on one, I'll rummage around in the memory bank and see if I can't rattle another one out. Cheers, Speyman
