Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Hi group, We've been contracted to shoot an intro DVD for a new Dyna-King vise and experience has taught me the words "true rotary" belong to another vise company. Ronn Lucas has suggested "inline rotary (or rotation)" and that is pretty good but I'm looking for ideas that would build on the words "centering gage," a tool that Dyna-King uses for their rotary vises and includes in the box with each unit. Do you all have any ideas what wording I could use to identify "on axis rotary" using the words "gage" or "centering" or both along with any other words you can thing of? As soon as I send this message to the group I'll probably think of something but I really need to get the wording down before the camera/sound folks arrive tomorrow. For now I have some Photoshop work to do on the Dyna-King logo so I can import it into my Premiere editing package after I get the raw footage to work with. If you guys think of something, great. If not, I'll figure out something. Take care & ... Tight Lines - Al Beatty www.btsflyfishing.com
Isonychia 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2008 Hi, Al... How about "axial centering system" to describe the vise and its centering gauge? That way, you conjure up three mental images at once -- that all tying will be centered on the hook's axis, that the tying will be "true rotary" because it is centered, and that a seamless, integrated system allows all of that to take place. Just a suggestion... John

Will Milne 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 I pondered this as I was out collecting bugs today:)- DynauniaxialcalibrationKingguageidae I added the idae for those with a dual interest in entomology and fly tying. Alignment Tool with an explanation of "what" in theory is being aligned and "why that may be usefull" works for me Will:))
Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Wow! What a bunch of great ideas. My thanks to you all. When we start shooting later this morning I'll see which one rolls off my tongue the best. I knew if I asked you guys I'd get some great ideas! By the way Will I really liked "DynauniaxialcalibrationKingguageidae" as an idea but I'm not sure if I can even say it. You brain must have been in over drive to develop that word. Rus, I know when I get under-the-gun in front of the camera the only idea I'll remember is "Long black plastic thing with the metal rod in it." <G> Again, my thanks to all of you. Take care & ... Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2008 Hi group and Russ, The shoot is over and I have hours of tape to edit in the next week or so. Darn Russ, I knew it would happen! One of the "out takes" is an adlib of mine was about "black plastic with a long thingy." I didn't get it exactly as you wrote but we all know WHO planted the seed in my little pea-sized brain! <G> Take care & ... WYKnot 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 I cannot image the finished product will be anything other than fantastic; looks like I need to add "Rotary tying DVD" to my wish list for Christmas. I am a big fan of the Dyna-King Barracuda. Will the DVD complement your book on rotary tying?
Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2008 Hi Russ, The purpose of the DVD was to introduce a new vise from Dyna-King. The only promotion for anything other than the vise is subtle in products I use to do the demos like BT's Tacky Dubbing Wax or Wiss Clips. Take care & ...
