Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2008 Well, I am a little late getting things started this year but I am very excited to announce that the time has come to start thinking about the 2008 FTOTY Contest. Reading the rules and guidelines you will see that I went back to the old deadline date of December 31st. We had a good turnout last year but that time of year is just bad for me with my busy Christmas work schedule that starts early November. Hopefully those that have not entered in the past because of the holidays can plan ahead and get their flies in before they roll around. As always, I have always preached that the FTOTY contest is more than a competition, it should be looked at as an opportunity to challenge yourself to dig deep and tie to the best of your ability. Countless members over the years has told me that the FTOTY contest helped them become a better fly tier because it forced them to really focus on the techniques they used and take their time to make each thread wrap count. If you have never entered a FTOTY contest yet I hope you make the decision to give it a try. Every year has been a fun, exciting and unique event and really brings us together as a community. It gives everyone the opportunity to showcase their flies as well as enjoy all of the flies that other members contribute. I will be working hard to get some good prizes again this year and I am hoping to bring back the medals that we did a few years ago, everybody seemed to really like them. Prizes will be announced as they are secured. You officially have about 7 months to get your flies done but it is never too early to start thinking about and planning what you are going to tie. Remember, I host and bust my butt every year for everyone's enjoyment. Join in, have fun, challenge yourself and be a part of this unique event that has become a tradition here at FTF. mswaterfowler 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 can you submit one fly into two categories?
Guest Report post Posted June 2, 2008 mswaterfowler, Only if you tie and enter one into each category. It would be an organizational nightmare to allow multiple categories for one fly.
