snboggs 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 A few years back when I first started tying, I acquired a bunch of different things from a co worker of my father's. Included in the stuff were these feathers. They are strung together and the picture shows the bunch as well as an individual feather. Anybody know what these are and what to use them for? The bottom bit looks like good marabou like material, not sure about the tops, they're stiffer. Thanks for any insight.
shezli 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 Looks like turkey to me. You could use it for some various things, depending on what you want to tie. I'd say that you could make a throat on a wet fly or use the maribou on various nymphs and bugs. I got a bunch of different colors of this stuff at a craft shop super cheap, so it's not too hard to find. I hope this helps. S
utyer 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 Those look like turkey flats. The center section of the tips would make fan wings. The rest of the tip would make good throat hackle, and the marabou for what ever you would use marabou in.
