Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 we don't have these down here . I did this from a pic in a book, so let me know if color and proportions are ok. added this picture to show scale .this is tied on a #10 4x hook.
Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 Looks pretty close Fred. Maybe the tail a little less rounded. Can you post a top shot of it? I ask because that is the truly important angle on a sculpin since they always hug the bottom and that is the best angle to view the fat shovel-like head in to the skinny body
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2008 redwings1, I reshaped the tail and took another pic and another to scale and edited the post.
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 here is an overhead view. I had a pic with only side shot so I don't know if this is correct.

flytyerboy95 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 i think he should have a flater head cause they'er more of a bottom feeder. just my two cents
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 flytyerboy95, thanks for the comment. The only photo I have has the sculpin is with his mouth open and his gills flared. So I tried to do that. I just didn't do it very well. Now that I look at it , I think if I had made the lower gill plates much lighter it would have shown up better. Thanks for pointing that out . I knew something was wrong but couldn't see it.
