Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 A new addition to the fly pattern database has been submitted by Redwings1: Junglestone variant
Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Lately I have been doing much more searching online and in books for patterns tied abroad. I have found many new uses for materials, but must say that lately I have found the Italians to be my favorite group of tyers due to their use of materials and beautiful fly designs. The Junglestone is one I found by Fabrizio Gajardoni that fits that bill and is a really cool looking pattern. I tied a variant of it as I did not have the materials on hand he uses. Hope you like it

fiahermansfly 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2008 Good use of pheasant tail for the wing cases! At least thats what it looks like to me.....I'm always impressed with some who can use materials from a part of the bird that isn't normally used! ~Brett
Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 Actually the wing cases are jungle cock nails!
professori 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 A little more detail in the materials list/tying instructions would be kinda nice. I like to at least have the material used for each part identified. Hook type/size, thread, type of dubbing/colour, etc. Much less of a guessing game for the rest of us.

Bud Guidry 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2008 this is a sweet pattern and i love the use of JC, i bet if you'd find some of the really big eyes that have splits down the middle and tie them in in three rows one over the other it would look cool too. thanks for posting this, i may have to try a variation of what you've done here to see how it might look, it will be my first fly like this so, no telling what will happen Bud
Redwings1 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2008 professori, the only thing I did not list in the materials for the pattern was the hook and that is rabbit dubbing, the rest is there. I will try to be more detailed in future pattern posts since I realize I have slacked off a bit. The colors are custom dye jobs but you can see them here and match it up as you please. This is on a standard 3X long nymph hook. Bud, I am sure you will hit it out of the park as usual

KevCompton 0 Report post Posted June 29, 2008 Hey Mike, Nice Stone. In case I missed someone's previous link, there is an English version of Fabrizio Gajardoni's website, 'Collectable Flies': http://www.gajaflies.it/index_eng.html Have you, or others, come across Italian tiers with similar websites? I've seen many interesting CDC patterns from northern Italians such as Paolo Jaia, Antonio Rinaldin, Marco Feliciani, and Gigi Goldoni but have not come across other sites like Fabrizio's, let alone English versions. Thanks, Kevin p.s. Mike, I have the threads & Hun skins; send me an email.
