ID help

I found this out front of my house the other night. I am someone new to entomology, I thought maybe a caddis larvae still in it shuck? I just didnt think they would be able to crawl the whole way to my house....

That would look like a caddis to me. I don't know that they will crawl out of the water though.

I suspect this was a bagworm. These moth larvae build a case of silk, leaves and twigs, which they carry about with them as they feed. I have some in my evergreens, but some species prefer deciduous trees.
