letumgo 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2008 Great pattern, but I can't quite figure out how you did this pattern (the hackle part). I read the materials listing in the pattern database, and understand about the paraloop method, but I can't figure out quit how you did it on this pattern. Why did you use diamond braid and when do you tye it in? Thanks in advance for the help...

Why did you use diamond braid and when do you tye it in? Thanks in advance for the help... Ray, I tied the tail in then the biot and a bit of the dubbing. Then I tied the midge braid in, then hackle. (I was playing with a few different materials instead of the midge braid and settled in on the midge braid, since it wasnt too bulky and give it a small bit a flash. I tried mono, parachute post, thread and a few other things, but nothing worked the way I wanted it to and held the hackle the way I was expecting. So hence the Midge braid won out.) Wrapped the hackle up and down about a 1/4" on the braid. Pulled in back towards the tail and dubbed the thorax area and then pulled over the hackle/braid and tied off. Hope this helps. mlwebb 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2011 Very nice. I tried a few similar paraloops a couple nights ago with less success. Will have to try midge braid. Michael

Michael Hope the midge braid works for you. You may also use Pearl Back braid by Sybai. That stuff works as well. Good luck.
