Fred H. 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Now that I got your attention. I would like to see what kind of creative minds we have out there. The challenge is to tie a fly any size , any style using one single feather. Not many of any one type of feather , but one single feather for the tail body wing , etc. One hook , one color thread , one feather. Post your pic under this thread and you may enter more than once. As I am furnishing the prize I will be the judge. Up for grabs is a framed realistic fly. It cost you nothing to enter , not even the fly you tie. The cotest will run from now until Dec. 19th. So the winner can recieve his prize before X-Mas. So reply if your man enough and that goes for you ladys too. Edit: I will choose the top ten and have the members of this forum choose the winner. This will move the deadline for submission of your flies to Dec.12th. no entries will be accepted after that day.. fishinbub 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 I'm game, and I have a few flies in mind. One feather, one thread, one hook. The possibilities are endless.
Fred H. 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 I just want to clarrify. One picture per post . You may enter as many times as you want but each entry must be a seperate post to this thread. The feather does not have to stay intact thru the tying process but you can only use the one feather. Oh and in case you were thinking of this fly. The one feather marabu bugger has been done to death. Think outside the box.
Dart 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 So a pheasant tail center feather would count as one feather if I'm reading this correctly? I'll see if I can come up with something... but I'm doing Futzer's contest first. If all else fails I'll just wrap a peacock herl around a hook and tie off with red thread (j/k). GUARANTEED TO CATCH FISH!

Fred H. 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Will there be amenity? Im just looking for the right feather! Use what ever feather you can. If your the only one with a feather off of an extint DODO bird and you want to tie a fly with it. I say go on with your bad self.
fishinbub 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 I've got one tied up. I'm trying to decide if I want to post it now or wait til later so nobody steals my idea. Of course if I wait and somebody uses my idea then my fly won't be as "original". :wallbash: Back to tie more.
Futzer 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Now that's a challenge, Fred, I will include several in progress pics so you'll see, that it is only one feather and it will remain intact.. Oh, it will be a mayfly. Cheers, Futzer.
Old Hat 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2008 Does the one feather need to stay intact or is Futzer just trying to get brownie points?
