Realistic Fly Swaptest

Recommended Posts

I have wanted to host one of these for a long time, and I think I have gotten an idea.

This will be a contest with normal swaptest rules, that is, tie two realistic flies, one for the swapmeister and one for the winner. I will also try to get prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, but is would be nice if someone would donate something. I am not asking anyone specifically to, but if you feel generous, it would be appreciated by all.

The two constraints are that the flies must be tied on a hook, and they must be an insect from around the water (mayflies, stoneflies, caddisflies, dragonflies, water bettles, etc.)

There are no limitations on materials, it can be any part of the life cycle (nymph, pupa, emerger, adult) and I would like to have at least 5 people join, just so there is some competition. There is no limits to how many people can join, just gotta be realistic.

The prize will be an assortment of flies along with materials. I may add to the prizes, depending on if I get any more hits on my othe post about prizes.

The deadline is January 15th, but I can add time to it if it is too little time.

So come one, come all, if you think you got it in you.

1. Tyrite-Got 'em- AWESOME!

2. Michel-Recieved- SWEET TIES! :headbang:

3. DAVIDM

4. deflyguy

5. rockworm-Arrived- GREAT JOB!

6.

One more thing. It would be nice if you guys would send maybe $.50 or $1.00 to cover the shipping for teh winners prizes. You don't have to, but it would be appreciated... Wow, I'm getting tired of begging for donations. :D

Whoops! Forgot about that! Let's see. Since it's almost December... Let's say January 15 of next year. This gives everyone about a month and a half. I can always extend it if it isn't enough time, or get the contest over early if everyone gets their flies in. Try to get as many people as possible in.

Thanks!

Jim , I think that is a great idea. There are alot of new members on this forum that are just showing an intrest in realistic tying. However I would have to sit this one out. In my line of work , believe it or not , this is our bussiest time of year. And to make things worse because of the holidays we have less days to complete the work in. this will also greatly effect the ammount of my entries in the ftoty as well as swaps and trades. My tying or free time in general. The realistics you see me post between now and x-mas will be those I am doing for gifts.

Alright Fred. I understand and no hard feelings. Everyone has things they need to get done. And the holidays are busy for everyone.

Deadline is January 15th, but I can add to it, if need be.

I signed you up, but if you don't want to after all, I can just remove you two.

Thanks for joining guys! :headbang:

And yes, only two flies. They just need to be identical realistic water insects.

Also, I am thinking of putting the type of insect on the poll. Do you think this is a good idea. If not, I will just not do it. Just let me know.

This is looking to be a good one. I want to see what you will do for realistics.

Oh! You don't need to tell us now, just send what it is when you send it. It helps so that no one wins because they are more popular than someone else. Great to have you on though! :D

We already mostly have a contest, but let's try to recruit a couple more people!
